Iain Glen’s Bruce Wayne gets plenty of screen time in episode seven of Titans season 2, and the showrunners even snuck in an homage to Adam West’s Batman.
The seventh episode of Titans season 2 may be titled “Bruce Wayne,” but we don’t really get to meet the character. Instead, the Bruce that Iain Glen plays is little more than a figment of Dick Grayson’s imagination – the aftermath of a psychotic break caused by a secret that Dick has been harbouring. Because Bruce is such an ephemeral figure, viewers are left with more questions than answers after watching the episode. One particular scene made us wonder, “Is Iain Glen’s Bruce Wayne an older version of the 1960s character played by Adam West?”
Glen’s Bruce Wayne debuted in the season two premiere of Titans, and he immediately gave off a venerable James Bond vibe. Bruce’s affection for Dick was also obvious, despite the latter’s rebellious nature.
However, very little of that characterization is apparent in episode seven. In Dick’s imagination, Bruce relentlessly taunts his incompetence as a leader, needles him about his jealousy of Jason Todd/ Robin 2.0, and is a general nuisance while Dick attempts to chase Deathstroke down. In other words, Bruce is a real nightmare!
As Dick tries to locate Deathstroke’s handler Wintergreen, he ends up at a burlesque bar (because even Titans isn’t above a gratuitous strip club scene apparently). While interrogating a lead, Dick sees Bruce, on stage in the midst of two chorus girls.
The entire sequence is so unexpected that it will take most viewers by surprise. But Glen plays it with unabashed self-awareness, which works because the real Bruce of Titans would probably never be seen dead dancing, forget dancing like that! Unless Dick’s real secret is that he was the first Robin to witness Batman’s classic Bat-dance, of course.

Iain Glen agreed, adding: “I think the problem with the Holocaust, generally, is it has an incomprehensibility about it for those who had no direct contact with the future generations.
“Either it’s documentary footage, of which there is a lot, but how do you find a way of telling it?”
He added: “We’re never going to understand – and that’s what’s so moving about hearing them (the survivors) afterwards.
“They are! They’re alive and they did such a huge variety of different occupations and went on to do such extraordinary things; they’re incredibly grateful to the United Kingdom for providing a safe haven for them and so yes, that underlying knowledge, for me, made it really moving watching it with them present.”
The Windermere Children, which also stars Romola Garai and Thomas Kretschmann, airs at 9pm on BBC Two on January 27, which is Holocaust Memorial Day.

The private eye will return for a fourth season sometime this year on the streaming service, Acorn TV. An exact premiere date (month and day) has not been announced yet, as 2019 is the current projection according to the streamer. Season 4 will continue following Iain Glen’s charismatic character as he battles issues both personal and professional.
The season, like its previous, will be comprised of three (3) feature-length episodes. In other words, three movies! Knowing that Jack Taylor will be back and within the definitive time frame of 2019 is phenomenal news. The series underwent some massive changes in Season 3. While missed, the show managed to not only survive but thrive in spite of them.
For those who may have yet to catch up on the series, a little background information. Jack Taylor stars “Game of Thrones” scene-stealer Iain Glen as the gruff yet loveable eponymous detective. An ex-cop, the story follows Jack as he works in the private sector of Galway, Ireland.
He investigates a different crime in each episode. Jack has been aided in those investigations by two different and equally loveable sidekicks, one in the first two seasons and a new one in Season 3. All the while sharing a complicated relationship with Officer Kate Noonan, his former colleague in the police force (Gardai) who tends to help him out.
Of note are some casting changes that take place with that role. Nora-Jane Noone plays Kate in the first two seasons. Siobhán O’Kelly took over the part in Season 3.
As stated above, episodes of “Jack Taylor” are feature-film length, so they are more like TV movies than a traditional episodic drama that runs from 45 minutes to an hour. As of now, there is the equivalent of nine movies streaming. The series is an adaptation of Ken Bruen’s bestselling crime fiction novels.
Iain Glen truly gets a chance to shine front and center as the ornery, complex lead. As he does on “Game of Thrones,” Glen has tremendous chemistry with all of his co-stars and the character of Jack Taylor provides him with multiple layers to play.
The way the mysteries are approached adds to the series’ quality. While in pursuit of solving them, the show never loses sight of its troubled character. They do tend to trend towards the darker side of things, so keep that in mind. This is a much more intense series than Tom Selleck’s also-entertaining “Jesse Stone” series.
As someone who binged the entire series (so far), shortly after Season 3 started streaming, Jack has been sorely missed. To know that he will be back sometime this year is a great comfort. However, nebulous that timeline may be, it is a release date that puts a definitive expectation on things. Cannot wait to have Jack back!
You can currently watch Seasons 1 through 3 of “Jack Taylor” on Acorn TV.

NEW YORK – “Game of Thrones” star Iain Glen discussed his character’s relationship with Daenerys Targaryen and revealed the departed character he wishes he’d killed on the series.
The 57-year-old actor spoke with Fox News on the red carpet for the show’s Season 8 premiere where he reflected on his character and how he’ll remember the long-running series. Glen plays Jorah Mormont, a rare character that’s survived since Season 1 of the notoriously bloody show. After spending a decade literally traveling the world with Mormont, the star revealed that he took a keepsake from set to remember him by.
“In his early days, Ser Jorah had some kind of Dothraki influences as he kind of integrated himself into the Dothraki way of life when he met Daenerys for the first time. So, I had a couple of rings which I took away which were easily portable and easy to nick,” the star said with a laugh. “No, I asked permission. But I’ve got those at home.”
A through-line for Mormont’s story throughout the run of “Game of Thrones” is his unrequited love for Daenerys Targaryen, played by actress Emilia Clarke. However, as the final season looms, Glen notes that he thinks fans are mistaken about Jorah’s love storyline with the mother of dragons. According to him, it’s been done for a while.
“I actually don’t think the love has been unrequited, I think it’s the sort of physical aspect to it that’s been unrequited. I think Jorah has got to a point where he feels very loved by Daenerys and has been forgiven, and that’s really what he was working toward since Season 5 is to get inside her inner circle again, which he’s achieved,” the star said. “So, I think he’s very happy commanding her troops being the head of her army. And that’s been an aggrandizement that she’s kind of given to him and trusted to him. So I think he’s happy where he is. I think it’s a tender storyline.”
Glen says he’s proud that his character managed to survive so much and make it to the final season. However, when asked if there’s a departed character he wishes Jorah could have had a hand in slaying, the star barely had to think of his answer.
“It would have been an unfair battle but I would have loved to kill Joffrey,” he said, invoking the universally hated former king played by Jack Gleeson. “I mean, I would have had him so easily. He would have stood a chance.”

Fans had speculated whether Glen would return to series two after dying at start of season one and narrating the remaining episodes.

Fans had speculated whether Glen would return to series two after dying in the first episode of season one and narrating the remaining episodes.
The scene was filmed in Lill’s Kitchen with a crew of more than 80 in both Frankfort Gate and Colin Campbell Court. French was also due to be appearing for filming later in the day.
French’s Gina and Silent Witness actress Emilia Fox’s Sam play sparring hoteliers caught in a love triangle over Leo in Delicious.
